Summary: Kodac DX7630 not recognized Product: digikam Version: 0.10.0-beta3 Platform: Mandriva RPMs OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: crash Priority: NOR Component: general AssignedTo: [hidden email] ReportedBy: [hidden email] Version: 0.10.0-beta3 (using KDE 4.1.2) OS: Linux Installed from: Mandriva RPMs Digikam won't spontaneously recognize my Kodac DX7630 when I plug it in and turn it on. Using "Import" crashs the app. This may be a KDE 4.1.2 bug because nothing appears in the USB Device List applet in the panel. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug. _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

--- Comment #2 from Jerry L Kreps <greygeek earthlink net> 2008-10-27 16:49:21 --- I used a USB cable to connect my Kodac EasyShare DX7360 camera to a USB port. Prior to moving to Mandriva 2009 PWP I used PCLinuxOS 2008 MiniMe. In that distro, when I plugged in my camera using the USB cable and turned the camera on, DigiKam AUTOMATICALLY recognized it and opened a dialog window which displayed the contents of the camera and gave me an opportunity to select what I wanted to download. Then it would proceed to download the selected files and add them to DigiKam's database for viewing, editing, etc... Under Mandriva, when I plug in the camera and turn it on I get no response. Trying the "Import -->Digital Cameras --> USB Image" caused frequent crashing. When I manually configured my camera in DigiKam and then chose that configuration I can connect and download, but at no time is the camera detected as a USB device in KDE 4.1.2. Once I have accessed the camera using my manual configuration I can then use the "Import --> Digitial Cameras --> USB Imagae" and it gives me an error dialog with "Retry / Abort as the options". Does DigiKam no longer do automatic recognition of cameras? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug. _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

Marcus Meissner marcus jet franken de changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |[hidden email] --- Comment #4 from Marcus Meissner <marcus jet franken de> 2008-10-27 17:03:01 --- the automatic detection is done by KDE itself, not by digikam. Please try capturing a backtrace from a crash (with drkonqi or gdb). Also try the gphoto2 cmdline frontend, list all files: gphoto2 -L -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug. _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

--- Comment #5 from Jerry L Kreps <greygeek earthlink net> 2008-10-27 18:52:01 --- This backtrace appears to be of no use. This is probably because your packages are built in a way which prevents creation of proper backtraces, or the stack frame was seriously corrupted in the crash. Gilles Caulier caulier gilles gmail com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |[hidden email] --- Comment #9 from Gilles Caulier <caulier gilles gmail com> 2008-12-16 18:21:26 --- Response from Jerry by private mail: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Gilles, I downloaded the source for the beta and tried to compile it but my attempt failed because of missing libraries and files that I do not want to add to my system. I use Qt4 and Qt-Creator (replaced Kate) to write Qt based apps using qmake (to support projects that I wrote at work before I retired) to create the Makefiles from the project pro file without any problems, but I've never used the cmakelist.txt system that KDE developers seem to use. Sorry. Go ahead and close this issue. I can use Digikam the way it is and will wait patiently for future upgrades to resolve the problem.
