[Bug 172018] New: Initial cursor in the "sharpen" dialog is on the "cancel" button

Jean-Marc Liotier-2
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=172018

Summary: Initial cursor in the "sharpen" dialog is on the
                    "cancel" button
           Product: digikam
           Version: 0.9.3
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: [hidden email]
        ReportedBy: [hidden email]

Version:           0.9.3 (using KDE 3.5.10)
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    Ubuntu Packages

When selecting the "sharpen" dialog, the initial cursor is on the "cancel"
button. The "ok" button is not active until the preview has been calculated.
This slows down keyboard driven interaction when the user wants to apply the
"sharpen" tool with the same settings as the previous time.

When the user wants to apply the "sharpen" tool with the same settings as the
previous time :

-- Current interactions :
- "sharpen" dialog opens
- user either waits until preview has been calculated or presses "abort" (or
alt-a) to stop preview calculation
- user presses "ok" (or alt-o)

-- Wished interaction :
- "sharpen" dialog opens
- the "ok" is selected by default
- user can press "ok" (or alt-o), even if preview calculation has not finished

Selecting "ok" by default would be consistent with other common dialogs in
Digikam. For example the above wished interaction works fine with curves, white
balance or hue/saturation/lightness.

Jean Marc,

This problem is now fixed in current implementation from svn (0.9.5 for KDE3,
and 0.10.0 for KDE4) : all image editor tool dialogs have been removed. All
tool are now embedded into editor window. This increase usability everywhere.

Look this screencast : http://www.digikam.org/drupal/node/370

Nota : unlike the blog entry said, _all_ image editor tools have been ported
like this, including sharpen tool.

Gilles Caulier

Thanks - you guys are definitely reading my mind... Digikam is already by far
my favorite tool for a JPEG digital photography workflow, and it keeps getting
better !
