          Platform: Compiled Sources
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Perspective
        AssignedTo: digikam-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: mikmach wp pl

Version:            (using KDE 4.0.98)
Installed from:    Compiled From Sources
Compiler:          gcc4.2.2
OS:                Linux

When you have to make significant perspective correction ability to only make image slower is problem. When I have to make correction of even 20% of image width only compressing this size significantly lowers quality of image. If I could eg. expand 10% upper part of image and compact 10% lower part of image losses wouldn't be that bad. At the moment image fills full space of plugin area. I suggest adding some arbitrary free space around which can be used to drag nodes into it when necessary. It doesn't have to be very big - 10-15% of image width/height should be enough.

I agree that having such an option would be very helpful for perspective adjustments. However, why not give the user full freedom for adjusting? This could be done by making it possible to drag the vertices of the image anywhere outside of the boundaries of the image. Furthermore, it would be useful to be able to zoom in and out in the adjustment process. As an example of the suggested functionality, check it is implemented in the gimp.
