I'll have a look at the links that you and Gilles gave me, however I don't have
much time in this period (and I have no internet connection at home currently),
so I don't know when I will be able to cope with this problem. In the
meanwhile: is there a specific reason not to use non-static functions for the
progress bar as a temporary fix? The lqr_progress class is really tiny, it
wouldn't be a big problem for memory and CPU...
