I know there is a difference between HSL and HSV.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HSL_color_space (Conversion from RGB to HSL
or HSV):
in HSL L is computated as 0.5*(max(R, G, B) + min(R, G, B))
in HSV V is computated as max(R, G, B)

For my argumentation I mean exactly HSV, because this is what we implemented in
histogram luminosity channel
