I found something which might be worth a look.
"The Kolmogorov project provides tools for machine perception and tutorials for
machine learning, machine perception, and statistics. It supports fast face
detection in images and information on Hidden Markov models, Gabor filters,
Multivariate Logistic Regression, and Stochastic Differential Equations. It
includes MPISearch, a library for detecting objects in images very quickly
(real-time in some cases)."
