As far as I know the thumbnails for the gallery are only created when they should be displayed. For large files this takes a while, of course. The "problem" is, that I have to click thru the whole gallery to create all the thumbnails for the first time, i.e. I wait until the thumbs for the first page are done, then scroll down to the next rows, wait again, scoll down, wait...

It would be fantastic if there was a batch job somewhere that I could start to create all the thumbs of a whole gallery, so I don't have to stand by during the process and can work something else meanwhile (or have a cup of coffee)

A new batch thumbnails generator have been added to svn trunk (will be availalbe for the next digiKam 0.9.0-beta2). I don't know why the commit in svn have not notified this B.K.O file.

This is the resume of my commit :

SVN commit 578791 by cgilles:

digikam from trunk : new batch tool to re-generate all albums items thumbnails for all icon sizes. Use the new Tools/Rebuild all Thumbnails option for that.

This tool can take a while on slow computers (you can take a coffee (:=)). Note : you cannot use digiKam during thumbnails processing.
