I've chosen (KDE config) to open digital camera devices with digikam. It opens fine when I hit the 'Transfer' button on the camera dock. Digikam loads fine, and when I select the camera on the camera menu, opens the Download dialog. Thumbnails are displayed fine in this dialog. However, when I click one of the JPGs, or select and try to download, digikam gives me a "Failed to download <nnn>.JPG" error messagebox. The camera LED continues flashing. Repeatedly clicking 'Try Again' on the error messagebox does not help. Closing digikam and reopening does not help. I need to lift the camera off the dock, breaking the USB connection, and re-start the transfer by pressing the dock's Transfer button again. Despite multiple tries, though thumbnails are displayed fine, at no point have I succeeded in actually downloading a picture to my hard disk. Additional info: - gtkam fails to run, citing a missing .so file, and I don't know where to get that one from. - Have not tried command-line gphoto tools since I would prefer to preview, transfer selected photos, and delete rest from camera's SD card. - Thought this problem might be a timeout since I had an almost-full 512MB SDMMC card on the cam; so I removed the card, took a couple of snaps which went to the cam's internal 16MB memory, and the above observations are with only 3 snaps ( 5 1MP, Standard compression, if that's relevant) on the cam's internal storage. - Also thought that maybe the camera dock was causing a problem, so connected the camera directly at the other end of the USB cable. It has been fixed, see this bug report: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=109277 There is a Suse rpm with the fix applied so update your libgphoto2 version. This problem is caused by files on the camera which have no EXIF data.
