Broken Caption field

Bugzilla from andi.clemens@gmx.net
Hi,

since we have multiple language support in the caption field, I can no longer
remove captions (or even assign them).

Removing captions from 500 images results in writing metadata to the files (it
takes like 30 seconds, so there is something happening), but it is not removed
from the digikam iconview nor the caption field.

The same with adding or changing captions: Enter some new caption, the apply
button will not be enabled. Removing the caption (but only with the remove
button) will enable the apply button, but not remove the caption when
confirming the changes.

Can you confirm this?

Andi

30 s is normal. 1-2 s here for 15 images.

Add comments work fine.

Add/del Buttons rules are fine there.

But removing comments do not work. I take a look.

Re: Broken Caption field

Bugzilla from andi.clemens@gmx.net
Sure 30s is normal, that was no complaint ;-)
I just wanted to say that something is happening, but I get no visual
feedback.

Ok so you can confirm this, too.

Re: Broken Caption field

Gilles Caulier-4
Marcel,

In ImageComments class, there is no way to remove exiting comments...
this is the problem.

Fixed in svn. Code in ImageComments class to removed comments from DB
need to be polished and factored.

Re: Broken Caption field

Bugzilla from andi.clemens@gmx.net
I liked it better before, now you have to press two buttons to update the
caption, first you need to press "update" and then "apply" again, but maybe it
is not possible the old way?

No. with previous one, both buttons need to be pressed.

Add caption button, register in memory new caption. Apply button check
all info modified in Caption & Tags and dispatch changes in metadata
and DB.

Re: Broken Caption field

Bugzilla from andi.clemens@gmx.net
? When I revert to the previous state (before the update button), I only need
to press one button.

For example my caption is "Bla" for an image. I select this image, type "Bla2"
in the caption and press apply.

With the new "update" button I type "Bla2", press "update" and then "apply",
otherwise the caption is not set.

Or am I doing something wrong now?

Andi

well, i don't understand how it's possible. From ImageDescEditTab :

    connect(d->captionsEdit, SIGNAL(signalModified()),
            this, SLOT(slotCommentChanged()));

signalModified() is emit only when Add or Del button are pressed...

I don't have changed thios part with my commit.

For me it's logic with current code.

If i emit this signal when you modify caption text without to press
Add button, nothing will be assigned to a language.

Perhaps we can assign it to x-default by default to improve workflow...

Re: Broken Caption field

Bugzilla from andi.clemens@gmx.net
Hmm still the same? Maybe we are talking about different things ;-)
But when I enter an updated caption, the "apply" button is greyed out.
So I need to press "update" first and then "apply".
