Batch Manager crashes due to memory exhaust

Robert Zeller
Hello,

I used the batch queue manager for the first time to develop a large
number of raw images. Since I have a 6 core CPU I of course would like
to work on all processor cores to save time. Unfortunately my 8 GB of
memory are not enough to run 6 threads parallel and the BQM crashes. Is
there a way to restrict the number of parallel executed thread to e.g.4
in my case. I mean, instead of clicking " work on all CPU cores" there
should be an option to define the number of threads to be used.
Regards,
Robert

No, it's not implemented.

What are you process as job in BQM to mangle all memory ?

Re: Batch Manager crashes due to memory exhaust

Hi Gilles,

my camera produces 36 Mpix raw-images, which typically have a size of 50
MBytes. When developing 6 images parallel I reach the my memory limit of
8 GB and DK crashes. So it seems to be time to upgrade my machine to 32
GB of memory. Anyway it would be nice to have an option to restrict the
number of cores BQM is working on.
Regards, Robert
