Backchannel Ubuntu help?

Paul Verizzo
Despite successfully installing Virtual Box Guest Additions on Ubuntu in VB, I cannot access my other partitions.  If I go into /media, there they are but with an X on them.  I read something this AM in Wikipedia about Ubuntu that implies that this is intentional to protect us from ourselves.

Is there a way around this?  I can't play with dK in Ubuntu w/o accessing my other partitions.

If anyone can enlighten me, please email me: paulv at paulv dot net.

Thanks!

I just set up a shared folder with a link to my pictures folder. My base system is Ubuntu and I have been playing with a number of OS's in Virtual Box, OSX, Win7, debian, etc
