Automatic album creation date set at 1970?

I'm a new user of Digicam. After setting up automatic album creation to show album date as the folder name, the folder is created and show a date of 1970! I'm obviously doing something wrong, but I've searched for the answer here and through the documentation without finding it.

This is the wierdest most convoluted method of using a forum! no wonder there are hardly any messages. Surely you could update this - its a dinosaur!!
