Are the grouping issues solved?

tosca
A couple of months ago, I had real problems with the grouping function: some pictures completely disappeared from Digikam, and it was impossible even to reimport them as Digikam persists to "hide" them. I eventually deleted the DB and rebuild it from scratch, as there seems to be no other way to "recover" the lost pictures.
The problem seemed to be related with some wrong link between pictures recorded in the DB, or whatever...

I would like very much to use the grouping function as I often have several versions of the same picture (1 RAW, several TIFF and more JPEG) and it will make the searching/browsing/tagging/etc. much easier; but I wouln't like to "loose" pictures as before, and to be obliged to do another "rough cleaning" of the database.

Have things improved on the matter? I seem to remember the team has worked on the DB in their last coding sprint.

Thanks for your answers,
Marie-Noëlle

Re: Are the grouping issues solved?

Gilles Caulier-4
Marcel has recently fixed some issue about in current implement from git/master. He also work a lots to have a better XMP sidecar support...

Definitivly, 2.6.0 will be better for you. Currently we are on beta stage. Don not use it in production, but i recommend you to test it on a dedicated test repository, and to report problem to Marcel directly.

About me, i currently manage a lots of students to implement new features and tools, as Video slideshow, video metadata support (through Exiv2), Clone tool, etc... Marcel also has some students, about DLNA support, Face Recognition, Clone tool, etc...

Best

Thanks for your answer, Gilles.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll have time to test during the two next weeks (on a shooting trip next week, then getting ready for my 1st exhibition the week after).
If it is still in beta stage after that, I'll give it a try.

Better than staying in front of the computer, even if it's for editing pictures.
