Is there any way to start digikam with a different 'root' album
directory? I'd find it very useful to be able to do this. It seems to be possible by creating a custom configuration file (I copied /home/chris/.kde/share/config/digikamrc) and then using the --config command line option. Is there a neater way of doing this? Alternatively is there any way to change the sort order of directories within the 'root' album, or even hide some of them? -- Chris Green _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

In the upcoming KDE4 version of digiKam, multi-root albums are possible, but it is not planned for 0.9 series anymore. > It seems to be possible by creating a custom configuration file (I > copied /home/chris/.kde/share/config/digikamrc) and then using the > --config command line option. The sort order can be changed (View menu) between folder, collection and date, and the order can be inverted. No hiding feature so far in digikam. You have to rename the album from outside digiKam to .folder to hide it. This is done in 0.10.0 release: http://digikam3rdparty.free.fr/Screenshots/digikamKDE4_14.png ...but we won't touch Database for 0.9.x. 0.10.0 still under development until middle of 2008. 0.9.x is production series. Yes, I can possibly see ways that collectiopns might help me. Date is little use because quite a lot of my older folders are scanned so the date is 'now' whereas the pictures are actually forty or fifty years old. I know I can probably set the dates but it's not ideal. Can the sort order of folders/albums be inverted, that would be useful. In fact I can't see where any of the sort orders can be inverted - where is it set? > No hiding feature so far in digikam. Why is it "As usual", it wasn't for me! :-) On all file browsers, ebay, listers of any sort, on $MS, OSX, Linux, BSD... clicking on the header of a display column sorts the items on this column, and a toggle inverts it. -- ><((((º> ¸.·´¯`·... ><((((º> ¸.·´¯`·...¸ ><((((º> http://www.gerhard.fr _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

I have an Access database, when I hover my mouse over the column headings the cursor changes to an arrow. ... *AND* clicking on the column heading *doesn't* change the sort, I have to right click on the column heading and change the sort. (Sorry about shouting, I hadn't realised this until I actually got there!) In a PHP database displayed in Firefox it's sort of half way, the cursor changes when you hover over the column header but it does change the sort by just clicking on the header. In every other case I've tried (Nautilus, Ebay) the cursor indicates that the heading is clickable *and* in just about every case a little ^ or v appears to indicate that column sort is what is changed when you click. OK, can I suggest a usability change after all this, the cursor needs to change when you move it over the heading to indicate that the heading is clickable. If an up/down arrow appeared as well that would be even better. -- Chris Green _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
