Album thumbnails have vanished

I'm trying to set digiKam up to allow me to keep track of folders with
editing steps towards final prints. So I set up one album (on-disk
folder) per final print, and transferred all the relevant files to each
album.

A couple days ago I spent a fair amount of time clicking on each "final
print" album and selecting an album thumbnail. It was really cool to see
these thumbnails - this was a feature I didn't know digiKam had - and
the visual clue as to the album contents made it just that much easier
to locate a given set of images.

The next day some of the album thumbnails had disappeared.

This morning all of the album thumbnails are gone.

It is true that I've been rearranging the albums and the contents of the
albums. But much of the rearranging has been done today, and the album
thumbnails were already gone when I started digiKam this morning.

Has anyone else had issues with album thumbnails disappearing?

Is there a way to keep the album thumbnails from disappearing?

Is the act of renaming an album, and/or moving images in and out of an
album, and/or moving the album itself to a different higher-level album,
supposed to cause the album thumbnail to disappear?

So yesterday I set a few thumbnails just to see what would happen when I
restarted the computers. And yes, they all disappeared.

Before I file a bug report, it would be nice to know if this problem
with disappearing thumbnails is an issue that affects more than just my
own installation of digiKam.

It would also be nice to know if perhaps the disappearing of album
thumbnails is triggered by things like renaming/tagging/moving
images/moving albums/etc.

Here was my question:  I downloaded Digikam onto my Windows 10 Laptop.
I am enjoying using your product but have run into a problem.

When I try to email an image, my default email program Thunderbird comes up but there is no image attached.
Can someone help me?

Don't know if this applies to your problem, but it also depends on the
font size you choose for the album tree. Below a certain size no album
thumbs are shown.

(I use simple folder icons as album thumbs but in different colors to
fastly distinguish: like red, yellow, green, blue... so size wouldn't
matter because there is not much other information than the color, but
still, below a certain size they disappear...)

Right now I think the issue is that I'm busy arranging and rearranging
items in folders. But eventually I'll probably run into "below a certain
size" issue, so thanks much! for letting me know.
