Of course! I knew I was missing something obvious. Thanks you, Gilles!
Just one more question. I can see that captions are written in the User Comment fields of EXIF metadata. It's a bit off-topic, but do you know whether it's possible to extract a caption from a specific photo using the exiftool utility? I'd like to write a script that extracts captions from photos in a specific directory and saves the extracted captions in a text tile. I've found the answer the minute I posted my reply:
exiftool -UserComment *.jpg Thanks, Dmitri ----- Original Message ---- From: Dmitri Popov <[hidden email]> To: digiKam - Home Manage your photographs as a professional with the power of open source <[hidden email]> Sent: Fri, June 25, 2010 12:02:19 PM Subject: Re: [Digikam-users] Adding notes to photos Of course! Just a note : Comments is written in different place.
http://lxr.kde.org/source/extragear/graphics/digikam/libs/dmetadata/dmetadata.cpp#251 The best one is XMP: You can set more than one comment in different language and for different author ! This is the power of XMP, against IPTC and EXIF. Gilles Caulier 2010/6/25 Dmitri Popov <[hidden email]>: > Of course! I knew I was missing something obvious.
