Adding GPS Metadata Manually

Rainer Dorsch-2
Hello,

just a quick question:

is there a way to add GPS metadata manually to pictures for which I do not
have a GPS track in digikam?

If not, does anybody know another tool to do this?

Many thanks,
Rainer

Hello Rainer,

I know at least one way of adding location information to pictures even if
you don't have a GPS track.

1. Fire up our beloved DigiKam
2. Select the all pictures that you want to geo-reference
3. Go the the Image -> Geo-location menu.
4. Scroll the map where you want to locate images
5. Drag images from the list in the lower left corner of the window onto the
map.  This can be done individually for each image or you can do a multiple
selection in the list and locate them with only one Drag-and-Drop operation.

Cheers,

Samuel

Select your images, then activate Image->Geolocation, the dialog contains a
map where you can drop the image thumbs, also included in dialog :)

Hello again,

I forgot one last important step :

6. Click apply.  (There is no actual change until you click apply.)

Cheers,

Samuel

A quick tip.

Dropping images on a map will give you latitude and longitude, but you can also press a button and lookup altitude for the location
