Add .xar to file types?

Hi,

I use Xara (graphics program) extensively, and would like to be able to see its .xar files in digiKam. Not for digiKam editing, or inclusion in any export-related actions, but just to keep them together with related photos.

Xara adds an extension to windows to generate thumbs, but I wouldn't even need thumbs in digiKam.

Is there a table somewhere that I can modify, or is this a messier problem?

Hi,

Supporting proprietary image formats in open source programs is really
a challenge.

For extra and exotic file formats, we use codecs from ImageMagick:

https://imagemagick.org/script/formats.php

.. and XAR is not supported as you can see.

So if you want to see improvement here, try to contact the IM team to
implement XAR support if possible.
