A HOWTO for using the Marble widget?

Milko Krachounov
Where can I find a step-by-step HOWTO for using the Marble widget in Digikam? I don't seem to get how it's supposed to work?

I ran exiftool over my images and my tracks, the GPS position appears in the metadata tag of Digikam, but the Marble plugin doesn't appear to do anything. How do I use it?

There are different places for the marble widget. One on the left side which is
for selecting pictures with reference to place, one on the right side which
shows for a selected picture the shooting place and one in the tools->geotag
menu where you can set the coordinates for a single or a bunch of pictures
using drag&drop on the globe. This is as far as I can remember.

Hi Milko,

I'm not a DK expert, but geotaging does work for me. At least DK picket up geotag of images taken on my Motorola android.

Maybe there is sometging particular about the way exivtool wrights coordinates and GK can't understand them, but I think is is very unlikely.

If you select an image, that you are sure has geolocation details and go to Image -> Geo-Location does it show your image thumbnail with coordinates?

Regards
Larry

Not sure if I grasp the problem properly, I'm not near a proper 'puter right now.
I'd think you probably have to tell digikam to re-read the metadata, if you use an external application to write the geo-data. I use gps-correlate for pictures made at walks etc, and digikam doesn't automatically read the changed metadata.

If you changed images already known to digikam, you migt need to tell digikam
to rescan them if it does not pick up on it automatically.

It appears that this has been the issue.

When I tried, it did show a map in Photo -> Location, it did show the location
correctly in the metadata tab, and everything, but the marble widget on the
right didn't work until I re-read all the data.

So:
1. Geotagging with exiftool is recognized just fine
2. I had some little issue by figuring out the metadata of which photos is
rescanned (I assume that it's of the album without the subalbums, but I might
be wrong), so I had to click it a few times until I got my images re-read.

Thank you very much.
